WHO IS RAHMİ KOÇ?
Rahmi M. Koç was born in 1930. After completing his service as a reserve officer in the War Academies, he joined the Otokoç company in 1958, working in the Koç Group. In 1960, the representative company of Koç Group in Ankara was transferred to Koç Ticaret.
In 1964, when Koç Holding, which was founded just a year ago, moved from Ankara to Istanbul, Rahmi Koç became the director of the holding as General Coordinator and moved to Istanbul.
Rahmi Koç became Chairman of the seven-person Executive Committee in 1970, and after becoming Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors in 1975, he became Chairman of the Management Committee of Koç Holding, a four-person senior executive.
Rahmi Koç assumed the chairmanship of the Board of Directors of Koç Holding on March 30, 1984, after his father Vehbi Koç transferred the chairmanship of the Board of Directors to him in 1984. He retired from his position on April 4, 2003 and was replaced by his eldest son Mustafa Koç (died 2016).
After the retirement of Rahmi Koç, he assumed the Honorary Presidency of Koç Holding, as did his father before.
