According to the unofficial results of the presidential elections in the TRNC, no candidate above 50 percent received votes, the elections were in the second round. In the second round of the elections to be held on October 18, Prime Minister Ersin Tatar and President Mustafa Akıncı will compete.

The YSK announced the rate and number of votes the candidates received in the data published on the Internet. According to YSK data, Prime Minister Ersin Tatar received 32.43 percent of the votes with 34,605 ​​votes. President Mustafa Akıncı received 29.71 percent of the votes with 31,699 votes.

SECOND ROUND ON OCTOBER 18

To be elected president, it is necessary to obtain an absolute majority of valid votes. The second round of voting between the 2 main candidates will take place on Sunday, October 18, as no candidate could reach this index. For the constitutional reform to take effect, the absolute majority of valid votes must say “yes”.

ÖZSARAY: I’LL HAVE TO REVIEW MY POLITICAL LIFE

Kudret Özersay, an independent presidential candidate, deputy prime minister and foreign minister of the TRNC, evaluated the results of the elections on his social media account.

Noting that the vote rate he received in the presidential elections was far below his expectations, Özersay said: “The results are at a level that requires me to review my political life. But when I look at this table, my true sadness is the future of my country ”.

Özersay affirmed that the policies of polarization and tension are successful when the results are observed and said: “So the expectations of our people are different, I respect them, good luck to my country. In this process, I would like to thank all my colleagues and supporters who supported me by showing a serious sacrifice of their family and their power of work ”.

Özersay announced that he will make a more comprehensive evaluation in the coming days and will share his opinion and decision on the future with the public. (DHA, İHA)
