President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated the Gebze – İzmit section, the fifth section of the North Marmara highway. The highlights of President Erdoğan’s statements are as follows:

IT WILL BE AN ALTERNATIVE TO D100 AND TEM
The section between Gebze-İzmit Junction, which has a total length of 57.4 kilometers, became operational, 43.3 kilometers of the main road between Kurtköy and Akyazı and 14.1 kilometers of the connecting road, which was inaugurated with a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with a live connection. Thus, the section of the Autopista del Norte del Mármara open to traffic reaches 321.2 kilometers.
With the opening of the Gebze-Izmit junction to traffic, a new fast, safe and comfortable transport alternative was created to the existing TEM motorway and the D-100 motorway, which are exposed to a high volume of traffic between Istanbul and Kocaeli. Vehicles from Istanbul using the North Marmara Highway will connect to the Izmit and Izmit-Kandıra State Highway in Çayırköy, and to the TEM İstanbul-Ankara Highway between the Kandıra and East İzmit intersections of the current TEM Highway.
