Hundreds of people flock to hospital with complaints of unconsciousness, fainting, nausea and foam at the mouth in the city of Eluru in Andhra Pradesh, the southern Indian state. Some of those who passed out complained of burning eyes.
A 45-year-old man was reported to have died of a heart attack due to the disease.
An official named Dolla Joshi Roy said 200 of the 455 people hospitalized were discharged. Prime Minister of State YS Jaganmohan Reddy visited patients at the hospital today.
The mysterious disease has also increased the burden on the health system in Andhra Pradesh, one of the states hardest hit by the coronavirus with 800,000 active cases.

Experts from the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences went to the state to conduct an investigation. Roy said a number of tests have been conducted to try to determine the cause of the illness, including possible contamination of food or water or air poisoning.
“Specialists are still working to find the cause of this disease and we are awaiting the results of the laboratories. It could be from food or water, or it could be airborne, “he said.
