Mesut Yılmaz, one of the former prime ministers, who passed away last Friday, was expelled on his last trip. A funeral ceremony for Yılmaz was held at the Marmara İlahiyat Mosque in Üsküdar, Istanbul.

His condolences were accepted by Mesut Yılmaz’s wife Berna Yılmaz, his son Hasan Yılmaz, and his brother Turgut Yılmaz.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, CHP President Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, İYİ Party President Meral Akşener, 11th President Abdullah Gül, AKP İzmir MP Binali Yıldırım, former Prime Minister Tansu Ağiller, former Prime Minister Tansu Ağar , businessman Aknikan Doran, attended the funeral. Names like its director Fatih Terim participated.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Erdogan said: ‘With the funeral oration, we are going to die. May my Lord forgive your taxes. Every soul will taste death. Just as we are sending Mesut Bey into eternity, the same fate will undoubtedly befall us. May my Lord allow us to come prepared for this harassment. We are going through a very different period. We all know about the incident that took place off the coast of Izmir, we have about 1000 injured, almost 50 dead. It is not clear where and how it will be. It’s about being prepared. We need to be prepared for the afterlife as if we never died, as if the world died at any moment. May my Lord be our helper. May Mesut Bey’s place be paradise.

Funeral prayers were held for Mesut Yılmaz in his hometown of Rize and in the Çayeli district, his father’s home.
