President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made important remarks at the opening ceremony of the Kurtköy-Akyazı stage of the North Marmara Highway.
Erdogan said: “It is not possible to change the habits of the years both inside and outside. They tried to block our country using all methods. Thank God they have not succeeded so far.” We will not stop until we take the fight that we lead to the victory”.
Today, we have increased the length of the completed highway to 389.3 kilometers with the commissioning of the sixth section of the North Marmara Highway.

President Erdogan’s statements are as follows:
The total length of the roads that have been put into service in the project so far has reached 389 kilometers. With the opening of the sections starting with Odayeri-Paşaköy in 2016, there is one more section. We will have completed the last part in the first quarter of next year. Its contribution to our economy is 2 billion lire annually. It will provide great relief in vehicular traffic. We offer fast and comfortable transport alternatives for each destination thanks to the connecting roads. We are completing the road networks with Kınalı, Tekirdağ, Çanakkale, Balıkesir roads. We must not forget monuments such as the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, the Osmangazi Bridge, the Çanakkale Bridge from 1915.

CONSOLIDATION OF SURVIVORS IN GAZIANTEP
Unfortunately, we lost 9 lives as a result of the explosion at a private sector hospital in Gaziantep. I wish God’s mercy on these citizens. I wish my condolences to all the family members. With these sentiments, I wish that the North Marmara highway, section Kurtköy – Akyazı, which we opened once, will be beneficial.
68.1 KILOMETER STAGE
Starting today, the section between the TEM İzmit-1 Junction and the TEM Akyazı Junction will be put into service, with a total length of 68.1 kilometers, 56.5 kilometers of main body and 11.6 kilometers of connecting roads. In this section to be opened, there are 88 large artistic structures, including 3 viaducts, 50 bridges, 20 overpasses, 15 underpasses, with a total length of 3.18 meters.
Thus, when the 389.3-kilometer section of the North Marmara Highway was put into service, the authorities said: “If we do not count the last 9-kilometer section that contains the connection to the interior of the city, the Autopista del North of Marmara is finished. ” Starting from the west of the Chukar town of Istanbul, Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya provinces of northern katedip, Sakarya ending near Akyazi Turkey and one of the most important road investments in the North Marmara Expressway, so the main body has been completed. Following the opening of the 389.3-kilometer stretch, the 9.1-kilometer stretch of the project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
There is a custom balanced cantilever-type viaduct that passes over the Sakarya River and has a central span of 110 meters and a total length of 260 meters. The highway, which connects Tekirdağ and Sakarya with the connecting roads of the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Istanbul Airport, aims to significantly reduce the traffic load that is above capacity on the existing transport networks and especially on the crossings of the Strait of Istanbul. It is claimed that the road will contribute significantly to the prevention of noise, environmental pollution and emission emissions caused by traffic density, as well as to the reduction of economic losses such as increased fuel consumption, maintenance costs and vehicle repair.
