A magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in the Aegean Sea, off the epicenter of Izmir’s Seferihisar district.
While many buildings collapsed due to the earthquake, search and rescue efforts began on the wreckage. In the earthquake that lasted 15 seconds, 152 people were injured and 4 people died.

After the terrible earthquake, statements followed one after another in Kandilli. The director of the Kandilli Observatory of Boğaziçi University, Haluk Özener, said: “Aftershocks of 5.8 to 5.9 degrees are expected to 1 degree below an earthquake of this magnitude.”

On the other hand, in a statement made by the Kandilli Observatory, it was stated that the 30-40 KM fault line was broken. Kandilli announced that there have been 21 aftershocks so far and that the aftershocks will last up to 15 days a week.
