A meeting on the corona virus outbreak was held in the Istanbul governorate under the chairmanship of Health Minister Fahrettin Koca. Minister Koca issued a press release after the meeting attended by Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar, mayors of 39 districts and officials from the Ministry of Health.
“PUBLIC TRANSPORT, AREAS MARKETS WAITING FOR INTERVENTION”
Stating that the introduction of additional flights on public transport and the timing were discussed at the meeting, Koca made the following statements:
* We are one of the most favorable places for the spread of the virus. Unfortunately, we were unable to continue the success that we have shown for a long time. The point reached requires that you be more prescriptive and disciplined. The risk will gradually increase due to seasonal conditions.
* Cases made up 40 percent of Turkey in Istanbul. The increase exceeds 50 percent in 28 districts. The rate of increase is 50 to 60 percent in 11 districts, 60 to 70 percent in 10 districts, and 70 to 80 percent in 7 districts.
* One of the reasons highlighted is the loosening of the measures and the other is the frequent return to Istanbul due to winter.
* We know that at the beginning of the problems that you expect solutions from us, they are crowded environments that make contact inevitable. The implementation of the social distance rule depends on the improvement of conditions. Public transport, markets, shopping areas are areas that await intervention.
* We deal with these issues one by one with the authorities. As long as risk continues in public transport, we cannot be as successful as we want.
“I HAVE TO ASK YOU TO BE A RULER”
* Our objective is to avoid, as far as possible, that workers and officials who assume the risk that constitute the majority of the population, go to work and go to work at the same time.
* At the meeting, the incorporation of bus, metrobus, subway and tram services and the provision of schedules were included in the agenda.
* The review of the public and private sector working hours is one of the topics discussed. Institutions must offer the convenience of doing things that can be done without having to go to the office, from home.
* It is experienced in neighborhood markets and in various shopping venues in Istanbul, where social distance cannot be maintained. We believe that the relevant experts and planners will find the necessary solution.
* We want to sacrifice in favor of measures. We need your support more than ever. I have to ask you to be strict. Mask, social distancing and cleanliness.
“DO NOT VISIT FAMILY MEMBERS UNLESS YOU HAVE”
* We need to discipline our lives, we have to avoid crowded environments.
* Those who are in isolation should not leave their homes, those who do not need to leave, please do not leave their homes.
* The elderly and people with chronic diseases should protect themselves. Those returning from their country should avoid regular meetings.
* Do not meet with relatives or other families unless necessary. Postpone celebrations and ceremonies.
“WE WILL OVERCOME THE STRESS OF THE SPROUT”
* This stage of the fight against the epidemic requires discipline. We review our ability to service and operate with our teams, we are strong.
* True success is being able to need as little of our hospitals as possible. We trust your common sense.
* We cannot think of a stronger warning for the increase in the number of cases. We will hold our Scientific Committee meeting in Istanbul on Wednesday.
* We are here with all our strength. If he stays with us decisively, we can reverse the epidemic from now on. I thank you all.
