Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu made statements on his social media account after the earthquake. Soylu said: ‘A 5.3 magnitude, 15.94 km deep earthquake occurred in the center of Elazig at 09.37. So far there is no negative situation. All of our teams continue their scans in the field. We will continue to report, ‘he said.
In another statement, Minister Soylu said: ‘In the earthquake that occurred in Elazig, starting at 10.15 am, there were no reports of loss of life and damage within the framework of the information we obtained from the calls of our Government, Provincial Gendarmerie, Police, Emergency Call 112, Elazig Mukhtars Coordination Line and AFAD. We will continue to explain the developments, ”he said.
EXPLANATIONS OF THE GOVERNOR AND MAYOR OF ELAZIĞ
Elazig Governor Erkaya Yırık, who was connected to the CNN TÜRK broadcast, said that according to the first findings there were no negatives. Yırık said: ‘There is no negative determination reaching them in the study of our equipment so far. Although there is no negative detection, our teams continue with their analysis. In case of any determination, this situation will be shared with our citizens. There was no information in the form of a warning after yesterday’s earthquake, but this is a lively area after the January 24 earthquake. Our state is trying to heal the wounds from that earthquake. During the earthquake, our friends AFAD, gendarmerie and UMKE continue to follow them. So far there is no negative record. If a detection occurs, we will share it with the public. ‘ said.
The mayor of the municipality of Elazig, Şahin Şerifoğulları, stated that the teams were sent to the region for precautionary purposes and said: “We are scanning the crisis table, there is no negativity.”
PROF. IMPRESSIVE EXPLANATION OF THE ŞÜKRÜ ERSOY EARTHQUAKE
Connected to CNN TÜRK, Prof. Şükrü Ersoy said: ‘I recommend that you be a bit cautious and stay outside. Of course, this is my personal advice. You need to look at the official statements. It doesn’t just fall on the East Anatolian fault, the site of the earthquake.
Ersoy’s statements are as follows;
In the first place, after the 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Sivrice, Elazig, the common opinion of all geologists was as follows: the stress was relieved in the broken area, between Sivrice and Pötürge, but new stresses occurred in both ends. One of the extremes of this stress was in Pötürge. One end was in Sivrice. Therefore, the earthquakes here are concerning as they are on the brink. In this sense, we are also concerned about whether there will be a transfer of stress to the East. This earthquake was first announced as 6.4 from foreign sources. It was later announced as 5.4. The difference between 6.4 and 5.4 is more than 30 times for this reason, I don’t know, there shouldn’t be that much difference.
Stations should be able to tell with slight differences. However, the earthquake announced by AFAD as 5.3 was felt very severely. In such cases, it is necessary to follow the instructions of the AFAD Government. Whether the location of 5.3 is exactly correct should be determined in a few hours. Because the earthquake doesn’t exactly hit the eastern Anatolian fault.
A little further away, it corresponds to a region in the northwest of Lake Hazar, in which there is no fault that could cause a major earthquake. So we think about this; 5.3 This is the largest earthquake this place can cause and it will now be muffled. After a few aftershocks, there will be no more danger. We can make different interpretations with the information that the measurement stations give us. If it is at the end of the earthquake at the beginning of Lake Hazar, it is a bit worrying. We are concerned about whether it will cause a new earthquake. 2 thousand every month an earthquake in Turkey. We don’t feel most of them. But there is a fact that we know in the Marmara region. The 1999 earthquake occurred in the Izmit region. There was a great earthquake in 1912 in western Marmara.
The region between these two will create an earthquake in the sea and will definitely create an earthquake in the near future and will create more than 7. In this sense, Marmara will repeat this story with its historical criminal record. It would be a dream to wait for someone to come out and say that there will be no earthquake here. Marmara is a very important region.
