At noon a fire broke out in a wooden house in Dereiçi village of Yusufeli district. The flames spread in a short time with the effect of the wind and spread to the surrounding houses. Dereiçi village chief Sabri Duman said: “There is a great disaster in our village. Almost 50 houses have burned down so far. The teams are intervening, ”he said.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs İsmail Çataklı said: “The fire that started in a house in Dereiçi village with 170 houses in Artvin-Yusufeli district spread to other houses. While the cause of the fire that started at noon is not yet known, there are concerns that the fire will spread to other homes.
Yusufeli District Governor Ömer Faruk Özdemir stated that the fire had not yet been brought under control and that the intervention was continuing. Explaining that there was no loss of life in the fire according to the first determinations, Özdemir claimed that many houses were burned.
