The incident took place at 19:00 in the Gebze district of Kocaeli, Plastikçiler Organize Sanayi Bölgesi Cumhuriyet Caddesi. According to the information obtained, a fire broke out in the firing range section of the arms and ammunition factory on the street. Upon noticing the fire, those in the factory immediately reported the situation to 112 emergency aid teams. Following the warning, firefighters were dispatched to the scene from many districts of Kocaeli and Istanbul.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene shortly after began an operation to put out the fire. Meanwhile, employees evacuated the ammunition in the scope section. With the intervention of the firefighters, the fire was prevented from spreading to other parts of the factory. Police teams that arrived at the scene took extensive security measures around the factory.
The flames were controlled with the intervention that lasted approximately 2 and a half hours. Fire crews continue their cooling jobs in the factory where there is no loss of life. It was known that the cause of the fire will be determined after the investigation studies that the teams will carry out.
