Our Coronavirus Scientific Committee, today, Health Minister Dr. Fahrettin Koca met under the chairmanship and evaluated the latest developments related to the epidemic.
In the first place, the point reached in the vaccine development studies carried out in our country almost simultaneously with the world was discussed. The stage in which the 5 closest vaccines reached the first applications in humans was discussed with the members of the Scientific Committee, the details of the first vaccine produced as an investigational product and the stages to be followed in the other 4 vaccines were evaluated. For the vaccine candidates whose animal experiments have been completed, the opinion that production is close for the other 4 candidates who have started the production phase of the first vaccine in the GMP (Good Manufacturing Procedures) certified facility has been made clear. in evaluations.
The repetition of the study “Detection of immunity and social incidence (incidence)” that we carried out in cooperation with TURKSTAT, determining immunity by measuring antibody levels and reassessing the rate of active cases by PCR was discussed as another item on the meeting agenda . It was agreed that repeating the study would be useful to assess the course of the pandemic with clearer lines.
Our screening policy was also reviewed with members of the Scientific Committee. It was agreed to expand the tests and to further increase the number of tests, except in cases of suspected contact.
