The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it allows the use of the COVID-19 vaccine, which is a co-production of the companies Pfizer and Biontech.
The FDA said the vaccine could be given to people over the age of 16. Healthcare workers and older people living in nursing homes are expected to be a priority. The United States government said distribution of the vaccine will begin immediately.

US President Donald Trump announced that the first vaccine will be manufactured in less than 24 hours.
Last week, deaths from Covid-19 in the country reached a record level, exceeding 3,000 a day. The vaccine developed by Biontech and advertised as 95% effective is predicted to prevent the disease.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was first approved in the UK and UK residents began receiving the vaccine earlier this month.
