The Azerbaijani army was reported to have lost 2,823 martyrs in the operation carried out in Nagorno-Karabakh to save their lands from occupation.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry updated the information on casualties in the war, which began on September 27 and ended with the signing of the agreement accepting the defeat of Armenia on November 10.
The number of martyrs, previously announced at 2,800, was reported to have risen to 2,823 following the discovery of some funerals and their identities.
In the statement, which states that more than 50 of the martyred soldiers have not yet been identified, work is underway to identify more than 30 missing soldiers.
The Ministry also shared with the public the list of martyr soldiers who were buried.
Following the liberation of 5 urban centers, 4 cities and 286 villages in the operation launched by the Azerbaijani army on September 27, Armenia accepted defeat and signed an agreement promising to evacuate the occupied provinces of Aghdam, Lachin and Kelbajar.
The Armenian army withdrew from Aghdam on November 20, from Kalbajar on November 25, and from Lachin on December 1.
