The fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenia that began in Nagorno-Karabakh on September 27 turned the eyes of the world on the region. The Armenian army continues with its provocative attacks, regardless of the ceasefire and the path of diplomacy.

Armenia carried out a rocket attack on civilian settlements in the Azerbaijani city of Berde. The rockets were said to hit 8 houses at 3 different points in the village of Karayusuflu.

As a result of the attack, 4 civilians, 1 of them children, were reportedly killed and 10 people injured. The material damage occurred in 8 houses in the region where dozens of families live.

Following the warning, many police and emergency services teams were dispatched to the region. While the wounded were being intervened, police teams took extensive security measures.

AZERBAIJAN: ARMENIA SMERCH MISSILE USED

Azerbaijani Vice President Hikmet Hajiyev made the following statement about the attack:

* Armenia used Smerch missiles against civilians in Berde. The use of marble weapons against civilians is prohibited. Four civilians lost their lives, including a 2-year-old girl. 13 civilians were injured. The loss of life due to cluster bombs is enormous.

THE MOST VIOLENT EVENTS FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS

The main reason for the tension between Azerbaijan and Armenia is Nagorno-Karabakh. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, Karabakh became a zone of tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The growing tension has been going on for more than 20 years, when the Karabakh Armenians demanded that Karabakh move from Soviet Azerbaijan to Soviet Armenia.

The conflict, which began on September 27, lasted for more than 10 days, prompting the talk of “the toughest conflict between the two countries since the 1990s.”

Despite the ceasefire between the parties, frequent clashes continue to take place on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which occupies the region. The tension in the region is closely followed by the international public due to the corridor of gas and oil pipelines in the region. (DHA, İHA)
