Last minute: The Netherlands declared a five-week national coronavirus quarantine.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced that a 5-week quarantine will be applied to combat the coronavirus across the country. Addressing the nation, Rutte said, “Stay home as much as possible and don’t go out unnecessarily.”
NEW MEASURES IN THE QUARANTINE
Rutte explained the measures taken in the quarantine that will be implemented as follows:
“Supermarkets, butchers and bakeries such as pharmacies, dry cleaners and opticians will also remain open. Hardware stores and clothing stores will be closed. The ordered products can be received at hardware stores. Places like museums, zoos and swimming pools should also be closed. Hotels may remain open, but will no longer serve food or drinks. Libraries are closing, but you can still buy books. Banks remain open. Hair salons and massage parlors are closed. An exception can be made for the medical professions. This means that physical therapists, midwives and dentists, for example, will continue to work. Schools, from elementary school to university, will close on Wednesday and move to online education. “
