According to information obtained from the Presidency of Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD), at 00.57 a magnitude 4.1 earthquake was recorded in the Sea of Marmara in front of the Şarköy district of Tekirdağ, its epicenter.
The earthquake, which occurred about 8 kilometers off the coast of Şarköy and at a depth of 9.9 kilometers, was felt in parts of Istanbul, as well as in Tekirdağ and its districts. In the resort town of Şarköy, which is the closest point to the earthquake, the quake caused short-term concern.
The Kandilli Observatory announced that the earthquake occurred with a magnitude of 4.3 and a depth of 13.7 kilometers.
In AFAD’s statement on the earthquake, it was indicated that the evolution was followed and that there was no negative warning.

According to AFAD data, tremors of magnitude 2.9 occurred in the Sea of Marmara at 01:06 and magnitude 2.2 at 01:08.
