The lawsuit filed by the leader of the Republican People’s Party, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, against the Sabah newspaper has ended. The court, which found that Kılıçdaroğlu was right, sentenced the newspaper to 1 lira in compensation. The decision was also upheld in the court of appeal.
1 LIRA IN FRAME WILL BE HANGED AT CHP HEADQUARTERS
Lawyer Murat Ergün framed the won lira with the case file and handed it to Kılıçdaroğlu.
While said 1 lira was placed on the frame in the form of a plaque, the statement “It is the amount of non-pecuniary damages of 1 TL taken by the court decision of the Sabah newspaper that slandered the CHP president Kemal Kılılçdaroğlu”.
Ergün told Kılıçdaroğlu: “We can do the same for those who defame FETO.” Kılıçdaroğlu received these words with a smile.
THE COURT IS FIXED, TO WHICH KILIÇDAROĞLU HAS BEEN SUBJECT
Kılıçdaroğlu’s lawyer, Murat Ergün, used the following statements in his statement to SÖZCÜ:
* Pool media kept a promise because they did not face a penalty in return. He frequently makes the so-called news that will unite FETÖ and the Chairman of the Republican People’s Party, Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, side by side. They see no harm in doing this.
* In 2018, they signed an alleged news. We had discussed with Mr. Kemal that this should not go unanswered. He said he shared the same opinion with me and gave me a power of attorney.
* We won the case that we opened in the Civil Court of First Instance of Ankara. The Sabah newspaper appealed this decision by taking it to the court of appeal. The court of appeal found that we were right and there was a decision in our favor.
Ergün claimed that Kılıçdaroğlu is not legally related to FETÖ and that they brought this case against unrealistic news, saying: “The court decision has settled that Kemal Bey was slandered.”
“THIS 1 LIRA IS WORTH 1 MILLION COMPENSATION”
Ergün spoke as follows about his claim for compensation of 1 lira:
* Of course, as we are not looking for money, we file a claim for 1 (one) lira only symbolically. This 1 lira case is more valuable than the 1 million lira claim. How big a small coin means.
