The incident took place on November 17 in Muratpaşa Deniz Mahallesi 129 Sokak district.
Police and medical teams were dispatched to the address after a person reported that he committed suicide by jumping from the roof of the five-story apartment building. During checks by the incoming medical teams, it was determined that Suat Sarım, who was a negotiator, died.
After the incident, which was recorded as “suicide by jumping from a height”, Sarım’s lifeless body was taken to the morgue of the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Akdeniz University.
At the first examination it was determined that there were 25 cutting tool wounds on the body, 6 on the left side of the neck and 19 on the left side of the chest. Crime scene investigation teams found a bloody bread knife on the ceiling where Sarım jumped and a note in his pocket that read “Take care if something happens to me.”
During the incident, his wife TS and his brother-in-law AT, who were reportedly with Suat Sarım, were arrested. The father and daughter, who were taken to court after being questioned at the police station, were arrested by the Criminal Court of the Peace on charges of “deliberate homicide.”
In the arrest warrant, the defendants were told that “the assumption that the suspects will try to escape and blacken the evidence, contradictory defenses, and considering the legal sanction of the crime, it was concluded that the arrest was moderate.”
‘HE DID NOT SEE THE 25 KNIFE PULSES ON HIS BODY’
The statement given by TS, Suat Sarım’s wife, who said that she did not see anything in her questioning at the police, but who recounted the incident in court was contacted:
* TS “The deceased will be my wife. He was receiving treatment for a panic attack. Since it was a corona virus some time before the date of the incident, his psychology completely deteriorated. He kept talking about wanting to ‘commit suicide’. I said ‘let’s go to the doctor’. The night of the incident, he was talking about wanting to commit suicide again. Then he said he would go out and get something out of the car.
* I noticed that the vehicle does not take the key. Then I waited on the balcony to see if my wife had gone to her vehicle. He did not leave the apartment. I thought it might have been on the roof.
* I was afraid to go to the roof because it was dark. So I called my brother AT on the phone. My brother went to the roof first. I said, ‘Suat, where are you brother?’ I screamed. Suat, ‘T. came, ‘he called. Then he ran and jumped off the roof, fishing. I don’t know that Suat was stabbed
He did not accept the accusation
The statement of the prosecution was also received by AT, Suat Sarım’s brother-in-law. Saying that his sister called him around 05:00, AT explained:
* Taking my wife’s vehicle, I first roamed the streets around the house where my sister lived and looked for Suat. I told my brother that I couldn’t find it. He said it could be on the roof. I also went up to the roof. I called him ‘Suat’ several times. ‘A. it’s you?’ said. I turned and looked, he was sitting on the roof, leaning against the wall. Suat, what do you have to ask? Why did you come here at this time? Said. He said, ‘I don’t enjoy life. My brain tingles. I do not want to live. I’m depressed. I am thinking of killing myself. This coronavirus overwhelms me. ‘
* I gave him some advice, saying we could go to the doctor. We chat for a few minutes. My sister called and I told her that we were on the roof of the apartment where they and Suat lived. After a minute or two, my sister also climbed onto the roof. He called us. Hearing T.’s voice, Suat said, ‘Go, I don’t love you.’
* Then he ran off the roof and jumped down the stairs like a fisherman. We just went down the stairs. Suat was lying on the ground. My brother T. placed Suat’s head on his knee. We called the ambulance; when he arrived he was dead. I didn’t see a knife in Suat’s hand.
Since I was sick with the Corona virus, I left a distance of 1.5 to 2 meters between us. As it was dark, I did not see if Suat was injured with a knife.
