North Korean leader Kim Jong-un addressed the public at the events, which are closely followed by global audiences as it is the first military parade since September 2018.
Kim, who thanked the military, which displayed the country’s developed weapons, for its efforts to combat a series of typhoons over the summer, praised his country’s success in fighting Covid-19.
In the footage served by the North Korean public broadcaster, it was observed that the North Koreans who participated in the celebrations did not wear masks, but there were fewer participants than normal in the squares.
“I’M SHOCKED ON MYSELF”
According to Reuters news, Kim said: “I am ashamed of myself because I have never been able to adequately respond to your wonderful confidence in me. “My dedication and efforts were not enough to save my people from financial difficulties.”
He listed the reasons why it failed to deliver on its promises regarding economic development such as international sanctions, typhoons and the coronavirus epidemic.
NUCLEAR THREAT
Using the words “We will continue to develop our national defense and deterrence force,” Kim also used threatening expressions in his speech.
The North Korean leader said that if his country is threatened, it will mobilize all its nuclear energy.
However, he refrained from criticizing the Washington administration, handed over an olive branch to South Korea and said the two countries could restore relations once the epidemic threat is over.
Kim said his priority is not to use military force, but he demonstrated new strategic weapons at the ceremony, which was watched by thousands of people.
He was supposedly killed
It was claimed that Kim Jong-un, who allegedly collapsed holding his heart in April, underwent heart surgery and the North Korean leader was stated to have been in intensive care for a long time. It was alleged that Kim Jong-un died at the time.
