The Ministry is also included as an arbitrator, ”he said. Referring to the coronavirus epidemic, Selçuk also said: “This epidemic has affected working life, employment, workers and employers. We implement the social protection shield. We implement short work allowance and cash support to protect our workers. “The amount of the payment we made to our citizens exceeded 2 billion lira.”
‘WE HAVE OUR EMPLOYEES UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF THE PRESIDENT’
Minister Selçuk noted that they will continue to work to protect workers and employers in the coronavirus epidemic and said: “All parties will express their views on the determination of the minimum wage. We have always believed that work is sacred. We have been with all the citizens who work for their family and their country. “We have always protected our employees under the leadership of President Erdogan.”
‘WE SAVED MORE THAN 3 POINTS OF IMPROVEMENT IN 2020’
Minister Selçuk said they have taken a solution-oriented approach to the minimum wage over the past 18 years, saying: “When we look at the minimum wage figures, the 2019 inflation was 11 84 percent, we increased the minimum wage by a 15 percent. “We made an improvement of more than 3 points.”

Minister Selcuk, noting that they care about protecting the business, workers and employers, said: “I hope my hope for this year comes out with a compromise and we hope to conclude. I believe that the minimum wage will be set at a level consistent with the expectations of our employees and employers ”.
THE WORKERS ‘SIDE EXPLAINED THE PANDEMIC
TÜRK-İŞ Secretary General of Education Nazmi Irgat stated that there is an opportunity in front of the parties to correct the minimum wage in epidemic conditions, saying: “The bill for the crisis is paid to the workers as always. The ban has arrived, but people who arbitrarily take unpaid leave in non-union workplaces do not receive even half the minimum wage. “The monthly support of 1,168 lire was insufficient.”
Windlass number of people working with minimum wage in Turkey, highlighting that more than 7 million, said that the period of the pandemic is trying to continue to charge people below the minimum wage. Irgat said: “This is a very sad number. “Millions of people had to go on with their lives by borrowing money,” he said.
‘MY MINISTER, IS IT POSSIBLE THAT PEOPLE PASS ON THIS RATE?’
Irgat declared to Minister Selçuk that it is impossible to live on a minimum wage: “Dear Minister, you are also a minister who takes care of the family, is it possible that people live on this wage?” she asked.
Irgat stated that whoever earned the minimum wage could not receive the wage he received in January December and said: “The tax regulation for the minimum wage and all employees is not fair. “We have to seriously consider whether the minimum wage will pay taxes or not,” he said.
‘SUCCESSFUL EFFICIENCY LEFT THOSE WHO ADD WIFE TO THEIR WEALTH IN THE ECONOMIC CRISIS’
“That those who add wealth to their wealth during the economic crisis must make the sacrifice. Saying that workers have no power to sacrifice, Irgat said that the three worker confederations have common demands and said: “Our request from you must be heard with this voice. Savings should not be expected with the lowest salary, ”he added.
ATTENTION TO THE SERVICES SECTOR
TİSK Secretary General Akansel’s Coach, With a Sustainable Development Vision Noting that Turkey needs to adapt to change, said:
“The support provided by our government to protect employment is important. I would like to say that we are currently in those figures, whatever our employment in January-February-March. The service sector was negatively affected by this epidemic. The minimum wage should be determined without ignoring the negative impact on the service sector. We have also seen in the previous period that sudden and large wage changes show effects on employment that extend over many years.
‘THERE ARE 3.5 BILLION UNREGISTERED’
When determining the minimum wage that expresses the lowest limit that must be paid to employees, the situation of companies must also be taken into account. Since the minimum wage is effective in creating new jobs, it is also one of the factors in the investment decision of investors. It is not easy to attract foreign investors. As of today, the unemployment rate is 13 percent and youth unemployment is 20 percent. One of our two higher education graduates is unemployed. With the minimum wage rising above inflation, informality also increased. The cost of an informal economy point for our country is more than 3.5 billion lire. As TİSK, we support the fight against informality.
‘CLASSIFIED YOUR REQUESTS’
I would like to convey our demands in determining the minimum wage for 2021. Informality must be taken into account. Support for the minimum wage, which has been in place for 5 years, should continue, it should cover all companies equally. “Employers’ share of unemployment insurance should not be taken from 2 percent, SSI employer support should be increased from 5 to 6 percent, and in places where collective bargaining agreements apply, it should be increased to 7 percent. hundred”.
