With the decision taken by the Presidency, the periodic inspection works of all meters, especially electricity, water and natural gas, will be transferred to the private sector.

According to the report of Sözcü Erdoğan Süzer; After privatization, inspection fees will increase, as at vehicle inspection stations, and citizens’ bills for electricity, water and natural gas will rise.

Periodic inspection services within the scope of the Measures and Adjustment Law were included in the privatization scope and program with the President’s decision published in the Official Gazette. According to the decision, inspections of all measuring instruments, which are still required by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, will be handed over to the company that won the privatization bid.

The privatization process will be completed by the end of 2025 at the latest. The transfer of public inspection authority on meters to the private sector will bring an additional burden on the citizen, as will vehicle inspection stations previously taken from the state and handed over to the private sector.
