The third composition of the October sessions of the IMM Assembly was convened under the chairmanship of the second vice president, Ömer Faruk Kalaycı. At the session, the 3 files that IMM president Ekrem İmamoğlu returned to parliament for reconsideration were accepted with the votes of the AKP-MHP group, without being changed as an “insistent decision.”
Despite Imamoglu’s veto, the parliament approved the sale of 22 properties, the approval of the artists hired in the city’s theaters, and changes to the zoning plan in the Albatros region in Büyükçekmece.
While the restitution of the decision to declare the land that belongs to the district municipality in the Albatros de Büyükçekmece region and for which it is planned to make a hotel and residence as a “park” was being discussed at the IMM Assembly, there was a debate.
“IF I HAVE 1 AREA OF SANTİM PARK, I WILL RESTART”
When giving information to the city council on the matter, the mayor of Büyükçekmece, Hasan Akgün, stated that the Albatros Park and the tourist zoned land belonging to the municipality of Büyükçekmece are not the same place.
Akgün also explained the history of the tourist land of the municipality of Büyükçekmece in Albatros as follows:
* Between 1965 and 1987, it became the property of the municipality of Büyükçekmece through expropriation. This land was registered as a commercial tourism zone in 1979 by the Ministry of Public Works and Settlements.
* Until 2003, we decided to demolish the facilities that we operate here to rebuild the old one over time. We had new projects prepared.
* This land has never been green or park. If anyone proves there is an inch of parking space, I will announce that I have resigned from the mayor.
* In the file we brought here, we say ‘we declare this place a green field’. Looking at the social media of my dear brother, Tevfik Göksu, he says: “We saved the green field of Büyükçekmece, we saved the green field that was paid to the contractors.” It’s wrong, it’s not right, it’s not right.
“DEMOCRACY IS NOT A MULTIPLE VOTE”
Akgün recalled that in the previous session, the land belonging to the municipality of Çekmeköy was removed from the park area to build a fuel station and in the last session, the land of the municipality of Şile was opened to the development of ‘tourism-housing’ and He said:
* Well, how can we evaluate this example since I gave you this place, which is the only tourist area in your district, which is not subject to a green zone, park, day by day, we buy with money that we barely find on our nails, and which is the only tourist area in your district.
* Democracy does not mean majority of votes. Democracy means acting with justice, it means law. Come to embrace each other, to treat all municipalities equally, let’s prepare Istanbul for that great earthquake.
The head of the Reconstruction and Public Works Commission, Yüksel Akyol of the AKP, declared that the region needs a park.
“POLITICAL INCOME ATTEMPT”
CHP Group spokesperson Tarık Balyalı said:
* If IMM were under the AK Party administration, would this plan be approved? It would pass. Passed unanimously in the past, no problem.
* The problem is in two places. One is that Ekrem İmamoğlu won the IMM, the second is that our mayor Hasan Akgün won the municipality of Büyükçekmece against our former mayor. It is an attempt at restraint and political revenge.
ANSWERED WITH EXAMPLES
Stating that he wanted to respond to the AKP, which accused the CHP of being its ‘green enemy’, with some examples, Balyali said: He pointed out that the airport and the bridge built in the Bosques were built with the decisions made by the AKP.
Balyalı said:
* I don’t think they like green or anything like that. They like it when it comes to their work and they don’t like it when it isn’t.
* If there was AK in the Metropolitan Municipality, there was no problem. If the AK Party district municipality came and brought it in, that would be fine.
* Even if the AK Party district municipality says to remove the fault line below where you want to turn at the fuel station, there is no problem with that.
* You reject the slightest suggestion from a CHP or IMM municipality.
* So you say ‘we are not blocking’. Come on, baby, nobody believes it anymore …
