Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and Izmit Municipality took steps to produce “Disaster Focused Social Housing” by KİPTAŞ. IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu met with the Mayor of İzmit, Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet, in the Arızlı neighborhood where the project will take place.

İmamoğlu, Kaplan and KİPTAŞ General Manager Ali Kurt went to İzmit Municipality after touring the land where the foundation of the project will be laid. The “Kanal Istanbul Project has come to an end” from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Imamoglu, who answered questions from journalists in the Assembly Hall. We will participate in an international tender ”, he asked.

“AS A PROJECT, WE WANT THE END TO COME”

İmamoğlu used the following statements in his response:

* I read the description on the way. Let me be very clear; The definition of “end” is correct. The Istanbul Canal has come to an end. Because it won’t be done.

* It has come to an end in the eyes of our citizens, it is a project that has come to an end in the eyes of the world’s renowned financial institutions and construction companies.

* We want it to end as a project. Why? Why; So that the future of Istanbul does not come to an end. Our activities in this direction will continue.

ATTENTION TO THE EARTHQUAKE

İmamoğlu also mentioned the earthquake problem in his statement about the project. Noting that the earthquake is the priority problem for both Istanbul and Kocaeli, he said:

* Especially here, in every step to be taken in the name of an earthquake, from urban transformation to the production of social housing of this type and other issues, we have to be in good communication at all times. We will develop this.

* And hopefully, we’ll take steps together to make Izmit, Istanbul, and the surrounding geography a solid structure that will be less affected by the earthquake. Our dialogue continues with the ministry on this issue.

* This is really an issue above politics; a national problem. I even pose it as the problem of independence, which is the case.

“OUR DOOR IS OPEN TO THE MUNICIPALITY FROM EVERY PARTY”

Highlighting that its doors are open to all municipalities belonging to all political parties, İmamoğlu said:

* Developing business and being in solidarity with each municipality that knocks on our door is an understanding that adapts to both our Istanbul and our path. We underline this as well.

* Our door is not closed to anyone, but open to everyone. We have announced this here.
