The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) 2021 budget of 28 billion 900 million lira was approved by a majority vote.
Presenting the IMM 2021 budget to parliament, İmamoğlu conducted evaluations on the projects and investments they are targeting.
When stating that they achieved a successful budget in 2020 despite the pandemic, İmamoğlu used the following statements: “If we give the summary figures to be made by the end of 2020, our total revenue will decrease to TL 19.3 billion. Our expenses will be tied to 19.5 billion lire. Despite all the difficulties of this chaotic year, we will end the year with the repayment of the 4.6 billion lira loan. ”
11.1 billion investment
Expressing that they never let the works stop as long as resources allow, İmamoğlu said that İBB and its affiliated companies continue their investments.
Stating that investments have not stopped, İmamoğlu said about the 2021 budget: “We plan our total budget revenue at TL 25.5 billion and our budget expenditures at TL 28.9 billion. We will have a deficit of 3.4 billion lire. We reduced this deficit to 4.6 billion lira in the 2020 budget. We forecast this figure at 3.4 billion lira in the 2021 budget. In the first 10 months of 2020, we paid off a credit debt of 3.9 billion lira. On the part of our affiliates, our total budget for 2021 will be 31 billion lira, and the total participation gains we anticipate will be 2 billion lira. Therefore our total budget will reach TL 75.5 billion. “
Stating that a third of the TL 28.9 billion spending budget in 2021 is the investment budget, İmamoğlu stated that they will invest around TL 11.1 billion.
Most of the shares go to transport
İmamoğlu had this to say about the investments: “Of this amount, TL 6.5 billion was allocated to transportation, TL 2.3 billion to environmental investments, TL 1.2 billion to disaster management and urban transformation, and TL 1 billion to health and social services and cultural activities. In addition to the investment of 11.1 billion lire planned for IMM, our consolidated investments will reach 18 billion lire, including 3.9 billion İSKİ lire, 1.6 billion IETT and 1.3 billion lire subsidiaries. “
Imamoglu, who promised to run Istanbul while adhering to budget discipline, said they will continue to invest and provide services in addition to paying off debts.
The 2021 budget, which was increased from 25 billion 850 million lire to 28 billion 900 million lire, was approved by parliament with 223 votes of acceptance and 9 votes of rejection.
