‘If he gets out of jail he will kill me’
Şenli stated that they are pleased that the case is opened with a heavy penalty for attempted total murder, saying: “Halime is also afraid that ‘if he gets out of jail he will kill me.’ His family took him. We ask the court to take the severest punishment so that he does not dare to approach Halime again. Let this decision be an example. We want those who inflict violence on their spouses to know that they will be punished and arrested. We want to make Halime’s voice heard. We want Halime never to die again. As the Bar Association, we will follow the case. We have a problem, the courts do not accept the request of the bar associations, but Halime does not have a lawyer. Halime has no money to hire a lawyer. If we do not participate in these cases, they will remain defenseless, without a lawyer. “We hope the court will be sensitive to this,” he said.
