Armenian President Armen Sargsyan handed back the decree on the removal of Chief of Staff Onik Gasparyan by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for the second time.
In the statement made by the Armenian Presidency, it was stated that the political crisis caused by the decision to dismiss the Chief of Staff of the General Staff Gasparyan must be resolved.
In the statement, which said that the president met with Prime Minister Pashinyan, the Gasparyan commanders and the Armed Forces in this context, “the president has decided not to sign the draft decree.” the expression was used.
In the statement that stated that Sarkisyan will appeal to the Constitutional Court on the issue, “The possible legal vacuum cannot be ignored. It was evaluated.
According to the country’s lawyers, the decree approved by the prime minister can be activated automatically after 3 days by law.
In this context, Gasparyan is expected to leave office on March 4.
MUHTIRA FOR PASHINYAN’S RESIGNATION
Onik Gasparyan, the Chief of the Armenian General Staff, and the top brass signed a statement calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Pashinyan and handed him a memorandum.
Pashinyan described the military commanders’ requests for his resignation as an “attempted coup” and announced that he had removed Chief of Staff Gasparyan. However, President Sargsyan returned the decree on the removal of Gasparyan by Pashinyan.
Prime Minister Pashinyan also presented the same decree to the presidency.
