High literature of short men

This is not new: writer, director, painter, etc. without referring to Google Twitter. We could not say to a remarkable person with the flavor of the mouth: “Rest in peace, sleep under the lights, let elegant night lighting reach your grave.” Because you are two compliments, the author of sexual assault, the author of violence, whatever you are looking for comes out of it, no matter what you withdraw your words, you rewrite what you wrote. There are some guys that I’m afraid to look at in such detail. I can’t give up the oasis of tranquility that Anthony Hopkins’ grandfather created during the pandemic with his dreamy looks, cat, piano, and paintings, whether you’re Hannibal or sweetie. But there are almost no vacancies in that generation after a little manipulation. I have previously described the Bertolucians, the Nerudas, the “Erustas” who have contributed a lot to our taste for film and literature, the collapse of our metaphorical parents one by one, and the ways we deal with it in a miniseries . Of course it doesn’t end. The women speak and the distant and recent history is illuminated. But we didn’t stay in the lights at all. Always the same question / problem: he was a murderer, the other one flew his lover in a car, but here his works are very beautiful. Is all this cultural accumulation garbage? Should we separate the author from his work or how do we do it if we don’t?

There is no easy answer to this question. We need to get away from our metaphorical parents in one way or another and learn over and over to construct our own language and stories. Feminism took decades to get bullying called bullying, rape, rape. This time, when we say the crisis of masculinity, the ego about to explode, we have fallen into the lap of a period in which the price of women’s earnings is paid to women and men passively continue violence aggressive in her desolation of “no offense.” But there is also a good side to this terrible age. In the age of so much manipulation, distorted truth, post-truth and plain truth, we take advantage of the “habit of coming out” in terms of male violence.

This did not happen spontaneously. Whatever happens thanks to the unshakable power and stubbornness of women and the LGBTI + movements. It was understood that the woman was not the wolf but the bedroom, and how common the experience was behind the curtain of silence. The women felt that sexual assault was not about what they were wearing, doing, speaking and that it was unnecessary to feel guilty while the criminal was walking. It is a very long and very difficult process. But finally, the women speak. Every day new idols crumble. Surprising us has been our greatest luxury.

The great writer Hasan Ali Toptaş has joined this “oh, that too” caravan since yesterday. A tweet from a woman named Leyla Salinger (pseudonym) about Hasan Ali Toptaş on Twitter is (hopefully) on her way to launching the “me too” of our literary world. Stating that she and many of her friends had many “unpleasant” memories about Hasan Ali Toptaş during their college years, Leyla said, “If I had the current awareness and courage, I would definitely reveal it.” He came after. Almost 20 women began to share their experiences of bullying, mainly at a young age, that Toptas was the perpetrator. Among them was Pelin Buzluk, a writer whose language and world I love very much. Pelin was followed by the reveal of Bora Abdo by Aslı Tohumcu. Covered for years by a spiral of silence with the participation of these real names, the incident became so undeniable that the author finally had to post an apology on his Twitter account. I’ll go back to that unjustified apology

Share Pelin Buzluk is the type that breaks people’s hearts and instills great courage in women. He says that he was invited with his ex-wife and had to lock himself in the bathroom after being sexually assaulted by Toptaş at the newsroom he went to just because he didn’t want to come. He said “Sorry, I don’t want to” while in the bathroom, which is one of the more intricate details. “Then why did you wear this dress?” As he barely darted out of the house, using his literary power, your influence, your respect for him to the end, brutally. There is someone who says. Many great writers prefer to consider the summer dress of a cornered young writer as an implication of sexual attractiveness and lags behind everything and everyone imaginable in this regard. He acts like nothing happened after the incident happened, and even makes it clear that he accuses and despises Pelin Buzluk. He sees himself in the place where the sultan, the dictator, God, whatever his imagination gave him, it is clear that he does not respect any human being.

There is a dimension that extends to high school and college students, as well as reports of child abuse. It’s hard to imagine such a terrible and raw ego as these older men writers, directors, etc., who seem to have licked the world, fell in love with the exploitation of young women or even children. The elderly writer does not hesitate to use the admiration that people feel for him, that they place the protagonist on their shelves and that they sometimes hope to obtain the meaning of life from a sentence, in favor of his crude and distorted sexual impulses. Although he leans more towards young women as usual (not just the cliché of “fresh meat”, not his disgusting sweetie here, the smaller, more unquestionable, the more admired), he believes that he will honor women of all ages with your touch. Then, in his plays, he talks about grieving birds and childhood traumas that cannot be overcome. How you gonna believe

The artist is not a teacher, he is a human being. But this is too much. Hasan Ali Toptaş has never been my writer, let me admit that he does not have a single book that he can read without difficulty. Which is not about layering, depth, but I was in high school with Proust. Writing is not my style, this is not the literature that I love. I think I have the right as an experienced reader and writer. I mean, that attributed literary height isn’t that unquestionable, but that’s not our point. If Shakespeare was reincarnated, if he was the best writer in the world, how many writers after he did? To what extent can a man “really” penetrate the deep contradictions and anguish of a person who cannot empathize with a woman caught in the bathroom and with a young student whom he is surprised? For a writer with some intelligence and diligence, it is easy to touch people’s hearts and minds. But, isn’t it obvious that someone who has a gulf between his image, his writing and the truth, does not feel some of the situations that he is writing and imitates the feeling? Won’t so many hypocrites seep through mountains of words and metaphors and pollute the spirit of the play? How will the world established by the person who has not solved the simplest and most primitive problems get rid of this cruelty? The reader makes the decision.

Not advice, but a call to avoid anything so imposed: don’t worship male intelligence. Do not show them good, strong because they are men who are unfair to your own mind and inflated like balloons, my dear sisters reading this article. All good things are appreciated, but the backbone of our life is not the “erustas”. In fact, for the most part, sadly, they are obstacles. Let there be no mind that does not come with understanding, respect, true empathy and kindness.

Although the defenses of some names like Ali Lidar, known for their hostile attitudes towards women, were raised right after Toptaş, but they quickly faded. There is more silence (let’s not be unfair to those who express) male authors, editors and artists, until now they were waiting for us.

From editorial processes to advertising, from literary magazines to bookstore shelves anytime, anywhere, the privileged middle-aged male writer is often highly supported by his talents. If female writers were surrounded by love, possession, and taking to heaven like half of this, we’d get rid of the metaphorical parent authors and their disappointments that they couldn’t get enough of. Fortunately, there are more female writers who prefer to be read rather than adored. If we face a million hardships in life and take this example, they run the risk of being harassed by men, including other writers they know. The big question here is “what are we going to do with the products?” Where do we call this broken order stop? This is the main and comprehensive question that worries many individuals and organizations that always put male editors and writers at the forefront. Otherwise women won’t be quiet anymore, I feel very comfortable with that.

Hasan Ali Toptaş apologized instead of denying it. The text of the apology is below, I think it is mandatory and worse than your fault. What is the adornment of the “male agency”? What is the author’s apology to the women who “broke up” for their “inadvertent and unconscious” behaviors at this time, who must have visited the corner of the human soul a hundred times? Where will this apology be withheld and what will it be believed? A language that still plays with the possibility of being misunderstood, the feelings of loved ones, the channel of victimization through emotion. Ironically, the only rewarding part of the job is that now you have to beg for this apology. It’s a sign that no one can get out of these things with a handshake like that.

At the time I wrote the article, the publisher had not announced it yet, but Everest Publications editor-in-chief Saadet Özen made very accurate, clear and fair posts from his account. From the writer to the reader, to the editor, the voices of the women “You are not alone” were everywhere. We will continue to see if this wave that started will spread to areas such as theater and cinema.

One of the best things about this ghastly age is that idols fall one by one, exploitation is not kept secret. Women are talking and will talk. A huge field of culture and the arts will cease to be a great literary playground for short men, the longer we wait and persist, the faster. No woman who dares to open up is not alone.
