Teams from the Diyarbakır Police Department worked around the clock to capture Güven, whose assistant was removed and sentenced. Police teams searched for possible addresses and searched the house following information that Leyla Güven was hiding at the residence of HDP Diyarbakır MP Güzel. Güven was arrested here.
22 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS OF PENALTY
It emerged that Güven, a member of the HDP, will be imprisoned after the arrest warrant is read on her face in court. The 9th Diyarbakır High Criminal Court stated that former HDP MP Hakkari Leyla Guven was sent to the armed terrorist organization for her statement and sharing about Operation Olive Branch of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) in Afrin region in Syria, and for his pro-terrorist speeches at meetings he previously attended. He was sentenced twice to 22 years and 3 months in prison for “being a member” and “propaganda for a terrorist organization”.

Güven was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison for “belonging to an armed terrorist organization” in another case in which she was tried by the Second Higher Criminal Court of Diyarbakır. The decision was confirmed by the 16th Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court. At the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, the presidential decrees on the final judgments handed down by the HDP court for Güven were read on June 4. According to the Constitution, Leyla Güven’s membership in parliament was removed after the motion in the General Assembly.
