In Bolu, images of the state’s elders built by the municipality on the walls above the entrance to the TEM Highway West tollbooths began to be painted by highway crews in the morning.
Road crews closed the stretch where the paintings by Atatürk, İsmet İnönü, Alparslan Türkeş, Necmettin Erbakan, Turgut Özal, Adnan Menderes, Süleyman Demirel, Bülent Ecevit and Hüsamettin Cindoruk were located at the four intersection entrances. Passersby saw that the Türkeş and Erbakan paintings were covered in paint and informed the municipality and police teams.
CITIZENS TAKE SET
Bolu Deputy Mayor Rasim Özdemir and some officials from the political party arrived at the scene. Some citizens drew a set so that the pictures were not painted. Then road crews stopped work. Many police officers were dispatched to the scene.
ROMPION THE GLASS COATING
Reacting to the incident, Bolu Deputy Mayor Rasim Özdemir said: “There is also a picture of our state elders who passed away without any politics. We made it covered with glass so it wouldn’t get damaged. They broke it without asking or notifying us. What is the harm to whom. It is not possible to understand why they paint, ”he said.
IT COULD CAUSE A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT
Bolu Governor Ahmet Ümit, who arrived at the scene at night, said: The images were made without permission from the roads within the framework of the Traffic Law and other relevant laws. It was said to endanger the safety of the road. It was thought that drawing people’s attention when passing could lead to a traffic accident. The roads have started a study, but we will stop. We will try to solve the problem by taking the necessary actions on the part of the necessary institutions. (İHA)
