Second quarter growth figures announced.

Turkey’s performance in the economic epidemic process became clear.

The economy contracted 9.9 percent in the second quarter covering April-May-June.

Economists had expected GDP to contract 11 percent in the second quarter.

Turkey’s economy had grown 4.4 percent in the first quarter.

INDUSTRY CRUSHED BY 16.5 PERCENT

In the second quarter of the year, agriculture increased by 4 percent, information and communication activities by 11 percent, financial and insurance activities by 27.8 percent, and real estate by 1.7 percent compared with the previous year.

Industry 16.5 percent, construction sector 2.7 percent, services 25.0 percent, professional, administrative and support services activities 16.5 percent, public administration, education, human health and social service activities 2 , 4 percent and other service activities decreased 18 percent.

According to the production method, the estimate of GDP at current prices in the second quarter of this year increased by 1.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 1 trillion 41 billion 643 million lire.

Seasonal and calendar adjusted GDP decreased 11 percent compared to the previous quarter. Calendar-adjusted GDP decreased 10 percent in the second quarter compared to the same quarter last year.
