The highlights of Governor Yerlikaya’s statements regarding working hours are as follows:
Dear inhabitants of Istanbul, there is a great fight in our country and in Istanbul against the coronavirus epidemic that threatens all humanity.
All segments of society, especially our healthcare professionals, show great sacrifice and devotion.
At the time of the effective implementation of the measures against the coronavirus in Istanbul, we are in good cooperation and solidarity with all our institutions and organizations, universities, professional associations, NGOs and the press under the coordination of our governorate.
At the end of June, we had 5 million employees in Istanbul, which is the biggest power in our working life. According to data from the Metropolitan IETT; Our number of passengers before the pandemic was 7.6 million, today we see that this number has dropped to levels of 4.1 million.
As we all know, there are two time zones in Istanbul where public transport is busy. The first is from 07 to 09 in the morning, the second is from 17 to 20 hours.
All of our work has a purpose. Protect our citizens from the risk of epidemics at public transport stops, stations and vehicles during peak hours at these busy times.
In the meeting of the provincial board of pandemics that we held yesterday, to eliminate peak hours in public transport; It was agreed that it would be beneficial not only for the public sector but also for the private sector to switch to gradual working hours and flexible work.
