IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu stated that work on the Alibeyköy-Eminönü tram line, which started in 2016, was halted, solved the funding problem when they took office, and was restarted.
İmamoğlu shared the good news that the section of the historical line between Alibeyköy and Cibali, which will hug the Golden Horn, will be put into service on January 1, 2021. Eyüpsultan Mayor Deniz Köken accompanied İmamoğlu, who participated in the test driving the line.
On the Eminönü-Alibeyköy tram line, whose construction works were started by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Railway System Department in 2016 and then stopped, the financing problems were resolved in the new period and process construction sped up. Work on the Cibali-Alibeyköy section of the line has come to an end.
The Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), Ekrem İmamoğlu, participated in the test drive of the line which will be put into service on January 1, 2021. Before the test drive, İmamoğlu visited the Control Center in Alibeyköy station with its staff. Head of the Department of Rail Systems Pelin Alpkökin and Metro A.Ş. Eyüpsultan Mayor Deniz Köken accompanied İmamoğlu, who received briefing from General Manager Özgür Soy.
“FINISHED LANDSCAPE CONTEST PROJECTS”
İmamoğlu, Köken and their accompanying delegation then moved to the line that would cross the coast of the Golden Horn. Taking the tram from Alibeyköy station, İmamoğlu made his assessments about the line on the train overlooking the Golden Horn.
Emphasizing that they will activate a historical line that embraces the Golden Horn, İmamoğlu said: “Serious work has been done. In particular, it was -1.3 kilometers, if I remember correctly, there was the section that we had to disassemble and rebuild, in the Balat – Ayvansaray section. And we did some serious stacking there. Thank God we have come to an end in a healthy way.
Of course, it will serve from the Unkapanı Bridge for now. Later, we will connect it to Sirkeci. We also have landscape work that continues from Sirkeci to Alibeyköy. Here, the competition projects of a serious field are finished and concluded. It was done in four stages. Yesterday I also received this presentation in four stages. “Very nice,” he said.
“We set a goal for 2021, to finish everything”
“The main problem here is not just a tram, it is not only about transporting people, but also about organizing the scenery of the Golden Horn coast, which has been waiting for many years,” İmamoğlu said.
“We set a goal for 2021 to end it all. With serious investment, we will have started such a process with environmentally sensitive and environmentally sensitive practices that millions of Istanbul residents come to and enjoy the historical texture of Istanbul.
This is especially a tram found on our two metro and metrobus lines. Therefore, the tram provides us with a very beneficial meeting from Yenikapı to Taksim, Mahmutbey – Mecidiyeköy line. It is also found with metrobus. It is also valuable with this aspect.
From Alibeyköy to Eminönü, you also have the following benefit: As you know, the Golden Horn is developing a lot with its museums. At this point, we will provide more inclusive urban line tourist crossings in front of the Golden Horn. As you know, there is also the Haliç Congress Center where there are events, there is also the Koç Museum, I hope it will be a narrow tourist destination when the others are finished plays “.
“INVESTMENTS IN METRO IS OUR PRIORITY”
Sharing the information that the tram line in question is connected to the Mahmutbey – Mecidiyeköy metro and Alibeyköy station, İmamoğlu thanked all the people, institutions and organizations that contributed to both projects. Highlighting that metro investments will be their priority from now on, İmamoğlu stressed that they don’t want any work to go unfinished. Noting that their goal is to make all investments that have been stopped, İmamoğlu shared the following information about the lines in question:
“For example, one of the lines that I was very excited about was the Dudullu – Bostancı line. Once again, lines like Çekmeköy – Sancaktepe – which again meet the City Hospital – and then the continuation of Sultanbeyli are very important. The Hızray issue is an important issue for us in 2021. In other words, it will connect Sabiha Gökçen with Halkalı. You will get from one end of the city to the other in 55 minutes. Also, my friends are conducting a very inexpensive study.
Within the project, there will be a line that connects the city with the west and east of the city with a very fast pace, taking advantage of the existing stations, that is, with 12 stations. Again, we hope to prepare for another tender in 2021, the İncirli – Beylikdüzü line. The west of Istanbul is very bad in terms of the rail system. When the İncirli – Beylükdüzü line is mentioned, it is a line that includes Küçükçekmece, Sefaköy, Avcılar, Esenyurt and even Büyükçekmece.
This whole railway system Istanbul’s achievement of a modern railway system and encountering a beautiful environment is work as an important completion organization in terms of the future vision of Istanbul. God willing, may Allah bear it all. “
“OUR INITIATIVES RELATED TO THE USE OF THE INTERNET IN METRO CONTINUES”
Regarding the question about the use of the Internet in the metro, İmamoğlu said: “Our attempts to use the Internet in the railway systems continue. Our request for permission from the Ministry of the Interior continues. We even have opinions that we don’t have an obstacle to using it on driverless lines. More precisely, the regulation of work allows it in the logic that prohibits it.
We have said that we want to start especially on the Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey line. It is currently under review. I hope that we take care of this and offer internet access on the metro lines to citizens as soon as possible. ” Upon disembarking from the train at the Feshane stop, both presidents walked from this point to the Balat stop and examined the rest of the line.
THE HISTORY OF THE LINE
On the Eminönü-Alibeyköy tram line, whose construction works started in 2016 by IMM’s Railway System Department and then came to a standstill, financing problems were resolved in the new period and the construction process accelerated.
However, a major technical problem was encountered in the construction of the line. The 1.3 kilometer portion of the rail system, which was completed in October 2018, was determined to have a vertical settlement, collapse and slip problem that did not settle into the pile system at a level that would disrupt the tram operation. in ground areas below existing foundation and rail level.
THE HALIC FLOOR IS NOT CONSIDERED
The field measurements and investigations were carried out by IMM engineers and expert academics assigned by Sakarya University. As a result of the examination, it was determined that during the design phase of the tram line superstructure, critical terrain conditions specific to the Golden Horn were not taken into consideration, and that the ground survey and field investigation did not were properly carried out during the project phase.
This irregular, one-and-a-half-year earth movement has been observed to restrict the problem to be solved with additional measures and presents great risks to the operational safety of the tram. As a result of the technical evaluations carried out, it was predicted that the movement of the soil will increase over time. For this reason, it was determined that the most appropriate solution would be to rebuild the 1.3-kilometer foundation section of the line that does not sit on the pile system. In this context, the track dismantling of the tram superstructure and the demolition of reinforced concrete between Balat and Ayvansaray, whose production was completed in 2018, began last April and were completed in a short time.
