From İmamoğlu to the manager who opposed the live broadcast: this type of manager is unfortunate for the public

The President of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), Ekrem İmamoğlu, delivered the opening speech of the “1st International Congress on Organizational Management” organized by Arel University.

In his speech, İmamoğlu emphasized that the main organizational criteria are merit, efficiency and transparency, and referred to the objection of the first TCDD regional director, Necmettin Acer, to the live broadcast of the UKOME meeting held on November 26, in which 6 thousand new taxi offers to Istanbul were rejected.

“UKOME LIVE BROADCAST TRANSPARENCY REQUIREMENT”

Underlining that he believes that transparency is a “medicine” in solving all the problems of each institution, İmamoğlu said:

“It also encourages transparency, participation and a democratic management approach. I see the benefits of this seriously in my organizational model. I also see with regret that we bring many issues to the fore in Istanbul during the decision phase and that this is sometimes, consciously or unconsciously, being weird and rejected by public administrators.

The closest of these; Yesterday we held a UKOME meeting in Istanbul. It is a long process in which we ensure the transparency of an environment that concerns the public, must be in front of the public, and everyone must analyze the good and the bad.

This blockade on behalf of Turkey’s main public institutions, a key administrator, gives a motion: ‘This is denied’. Why? ‘We are public officials, we are public officials …’ Why did they come here and what are they talking about? “Decisions to be made regarding Istanbul transportation coordination.” Does each of them concern the people of Istanbul? ‘Yes.’

So, as much as discussing a topic that concerns so much life in front of the citizen, opposing it in an environment where communication is so powerful is actually an individual attitude that should not be in the current organizational model. I would like to stress that it is a shame for the public that these people have become top executives. “

“IF I KNOW EVERYTHING, I NEVER KNEW ISTANBUL AN OPPORTUNITY”

İmamoğlu emphasized that from the moment they took office, they saw Istanbul as a transparent and holistic organizational structure. Emphasizing that his goal is to include the main elements in the process within this organizational model, İmamoğlu summed up his goal with the words “Istanbul should never give an individual the opportunity to” I know everything.

Stating that Istanbul can be defined with concepts such as culture, art, commerce, life and struggle, Imamoglu said: “Is it possible for a person to become an expert in all this? No. This is miraculous. On the contrary; With a good organizational model, good leadership, a new generation leadership, free spaces, managers who can express their opinions, even a table of common mind where the manager who cannot speak or does not speak can sit …

On the contrary; I believe that a leader who has entrusted himself to the table of the common mind and a leader who fulfills his duty as a moderator by bringing this closer to his people creates a solid organizational model. “This is the organizational model that we really want to create in Istanbul right now, we want to execute.”
