Belgian virologist Marc van Ranst received an instant statement about the future of soccer leagues that were halted due to an outbreak of coronavirus in Europe and other countries.
In his statement to the Belgian press, Van Ranst, in which UEFA asked for his opinion on the future of the leagues, said that UEFA has started to accept the cancellation of the leagues. “UEFA began to see that it was not possible to play football this season, I realized that. This is the impression I had at the meeting with me,” said the Belgian virologist.
Claiming that UEFA cannot judge Belgium and other countries that have decided to cancel the leagues, Van Ranst said:
“THE FOOTBALL MATCH IS THE LAST THING YOU WILL THINK IN THIS CASE!”
No one can judge Belgium if they decide to cancel the leagues. It takes 3-4 weeks of work to start the games again, I get it.
Soccer is one of the most important issues in the world right now, but it must be honest: organizations where large crowds like soccer games or music festivals will be the last thing to consider.
The finals can be played without an audience, this is possible, but nobody can guarantee that people will not be anywhere else before the matches. Without such guarantees, these matches are also difficult to play.
