On Monday, an explosion occurred near Pac Square on Fener Street in the center of Hatay’s İskenderun district.

According to the İhlas News Agency (İHA), police teams followed the car in which two people tried to attack an enforcement point in Payas. Then there was a confrontation between the police and the people in the car, there was an explosion in the vehicle. The İskenderun deputy chief of police and two people were injured. One of those traveling in the vehicle was killed in the explosion, the other who escaped was killed by security forces.
After the explosion, many police, firefighters, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
The Fener Caddesi was closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
