Ahmet Tevfik Ozan (68), a retired poet and professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Fırat in Elazig, died last January of a heart attack. After being in prison for a period after the 1980 coup, Dr. Ozan was reported to have written a letter to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was detained in Pinarhisar Prison in 1999, and submitted his papers.

President Erdogan, on the other hand, sent a letter of thanks to Ahmet Tevfik Ozan in his own handwriting at the time.

” WE ARE IN A TEMPORARY SPACE ”

In his letter sent at the time, President Erdogan said: “Mr. A. Tevfik Ozan My brother; I have received your works, courtesy of shipping. Thank you. On this occasion, I say that the peace, mercy and blessings of God be with us. We are in a temporary place. I ask my Lord that this be a meaningful or different process for us. I wish you success in your publication. Greetings and Dua .. Trust yourselves to Allah ”.

Mehmet Seyda Ozan, a faculty member of the University of Erciyes, son of Ozan, who passed away, said in a statement regarding the letter: “Our occasion to reach this letter was within the scope of collecting my father’s belongings. after his death. We are talking about a 22 year old letter. As I said, it is possible to say that this was not perceived as a means of power or that the comfort letter of that time, written with pure and clean sentiments, was kept secret so as not to be drawn in the wrong directions. We were very surprised when we saw it, because our president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, wrote this letter in his own hand and we still find traces of the pen he wrote on it. “
