In a written statement from the Pentagon, it was announced that with the dismissal of Esper, he presented the resignation of Undersecretary for Security Policy, James Anderson, and was replaced by Anthony Tata.
Tata had previously been nominated by Trump for the same position, but was rejected by the Senate for his “anti-Islamic charges” and for calling former President Barrack Obama a “terrorist.” According to AA news; Since Tata will have this proxy mandate, Senate approval will not be required.
In the Pentagon statement, it was also stated that Defense Ministry Under Secretary for Security and Intelligence Joseph Kernan and Defense Ministry Chief of Staff Jen Stewart also resigned.
In the statement, it was noted that Ezra Cohen-Watnick, Deputy Under Secretary for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflicts, replaced Kernan, and Kash Patel, an official with the White House National Security Council, was replaced by Stewart.
Trump announced that he has appointed Christopher Miller, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, to replace Esper.
While many more officials are expected to leave the Pentagon, it is claimed that Trump will also remove the directors of the CIA and FBI.
CIA Director Gina Haspel met with Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnel in the Senate today.
It is argued that all these office changes may be related to the legal process that Trump initiated for the electoral process.
