WALL – During the drill in the garden of the Kadıköy fire station in Kadıköy, Istanbul, the 63-meter ladder of the fire truck broke.
Two firefighters in the basket of the broken ladder fell on the roof of the building in front of the station and were seriously injured. The broken stair fell onto a parked car on the street after hitting the building.
Two firefighters injured in the accident were taken to Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital after the first intervention of medical teams called to the scene. Emircan Çolak, one of the firefighters, died in the hospital where he was transferred. Mehmet Ali İnal’s treatment in intensive care continues.
In the statement made by the Istanbul Fire Department, “Our Emircan Çolak personnel have been martyred as a result of the accident at our Kadıköy fire station.
