In the incident that took place on January 4, 2001 in İçerenköy, Kadıköy, 12-year-old Hande Çinkitaş was found dead in her home. It was determined that the killer, who had 13 knife blows to the body and was hit with a hammer on the head, attempted to cut the throat and finger of Hande Çikitaş, a sixth-grade student.

The Istanbul Public Security Police took the file on that murder, which was frequently featured in the media. Police teams reexamined the evidence obtained at that time with advanced technology. In examinations, it was claimed that Baba Nezih Çinkitaş’s DNA was found on the knife used in the incident. After investigations, his father Nezih Çinkitaş, his stepmother Şehriban Çinkitaş and his neighbor Hacı Osman K. were arrested.
They did not accept the charges
The suspects, who learned that they did not accept the accusations in their statements to the police, were transferred to the Anatolian Palace of Justice after the trial.
