Denial of arrest request by former specialist sergeant prosecuted for sexual assault

Former Specialist Sergeant Musa Orhan, who was charged with “qualified sexual assault” in Siirt, appeared before the judge at the first hearing.

While the defendant Orhan was attending the hearing at the Siirt 1st High Criminal Court via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS), the late İpek Er’s mother, Hikmet and father Fuat Er, and their lawyers were present at the room.

Defendant Orhan stated that he would not make a defense to the charges against him and that he would use his right to remain silent.

Er’s parents stated that they complained about the accused and demanded that he be tried and punished in custody. Lawyers for the family also requested that the accused be placed in preventive detention.

Defendant Orhan’s attorney argued that his client was not guilty.

During the defense of the defendant’s lawyer, Er’s mother fainted.

The prosecutor also commented that the defendant Orhan should be tried without arrest.

The court decided to reject the defendant Orhan’s request for detention and postponed the hearing.

Upon leaving the court, Hikmet Er, the deceased’s mother, reacted to the decision on the pending trial of the accused.

In Siirt, victim İpek Er (18) filed an application with the Siirt Prosecutor General’s Office on July 7 and complained about the alleged sexual assault of Musa Orhan, who had previously met and made friends on social media, and was launched an investigation.

Er, who was said to have attempted suicide on July 16, was detained after Er’s death on July 18 at the hospital where he was treated, and Orhan was detained on July 19 and released pending trial for objection of your attorney.

Orhan, who was suspended from his post by the Siirt governorate on July 16, was removed from the Gendarmerie General Command due to the investigation by the Interior Ministry for “Qualified sexual assault.”
