Member of the Geological Engineering Faculty of Konya Technical University Prof. Dr. Yaşar Eren and Dr. Prof. Şeyda Parlar started a research study with research assistant Berkant Coşkuner on sinkholes in Karapınar district.
Determining that there are 505 potholes in the region, Prof. Dr. When Eren and his team examined satellite images, they detected cracks in the surface between the Büyük Çıralı plateau and Acıkuyu, 26 kilometers northwest of the center of the district.
DETERMINED 10 METER SLOTS
According to the news in the DHA, the cracks between 10 meters wide and 8-10 meters deep were examined in the field investigations. As a result of the examinations, it was determined that the circular cracks belonged to the sump with a diameter of 630 meters.
A LAND ROAD WAS CROSSING
The road connecting Karapınar to Aksaray’s Eskil district passes over the giant pothole. The road is used by those who live on the plateaus of that region and those who come to visit the potholes of tourist importance.
THE PATH OF THE GIANT GIANT MOVES
The Konya Karapınar Municipality took action after the news about the giant pothole with a diameter of 630 meters was reflected in the press. Municipal crews began working with a large number of construction crews for the construction of the road that they planned to pass around the pothole.
The formation of puffs causes public panic.
Cahit Aşıroğlu, the head of the Fevzipaşa district, who said that the 630-meter diameter sinkhole caused panic among residents, said: “ We know that the Karapınar municipality built a 1-kilometer crescent-shaped road to prevent it from citizens are in a difficult situation. Sinks large and small formed around our neighborhood.
“WONDERFUL WHERE will I fear?”
Recently, sinkhole formation has increased in the region. There are also potholes formed years ago; but we have not seen such a large sink. The formation of these sinkholes causes panic in the public. I wonder where people will migrate to. The citizens of the region are concerned about whether it is my home, my field or will migrate. ”
