Infectious Disease Specialist Prof. Dr. Bülent Ertuğrul shared the following information:
“Unfortunately, there is an increase in Istanbul. As the minister said, the number of requests to polyclinics started to increase, there is a slight movement. If it continues, it seems that Istanbul will probably join the very high risk provinces.”
SITUATION IN THE BLACK SEA
It is still too high. We can say that Trabzon still has a very high risk. We hope for an improvement there. It may be necessary to evaluate at two week intervals.
The virus has a certain period of illness. We can extend this period up to 10-14 days. In order for the sick to fall off the table, the 2-week isolation period must pass. The uptrend is exhilarating. We do not expect to fall immediately. The evaluation of the table in two weeks will be more valuable in terms of decline.
Istanbul is one of the most dangerous places. It tends to rise. Immediate action needs to be taken for Istanbul immediately. Istanbul is a very high risk area. When we look at it like this, it should be a warning to us. Action must be taken for Istanbul as soon as possible. It can become the center of the epidemic like the previous year. In this way, we must not misinterpret the process we call normalization. Normalization means living by paying attention to the rules. If we cannot do this, we may encounter a new wave. Many people don’t have the strength left to be patient. We will do it together. We have such a lying confidence. We believe that we are not infected by our favorite person. However, anyone who is connected to the outside can infect the virus. If possible, home visits in very high-risk areas should be avoided. Young people can be asymptomatic and carry the virus. We have to learn to live without doing this.
EXAMPLE FROM USAK
These are the rules that society in general must obey. They did it in Uşak. Society began by obeying the rules completely. If you can do this in other provinces, then yes, then we can get a good result. Otherwise, I mean we can come up with a much tighter shutdown.
VACCINATION
Unfortunately, there is no protection after the first shot. It should be some time after the second dose. This is a two week period. We are talking about 45 days after the first dose. After the first dose, we cannot afford to say ‘I have been vaccinated, I can move easily’. We complete the second dose and then a problem may arise. The vaccine can protect 85 percent. The remaining 15 percent may be sick. Prevents serious diseases. It means you may be sick, you may not realize it, you can spread the virus around you. You have to live respecting the rules of the mask, distance and hygiene, the passage of time does not mean that a year and two years will pass and we will get rid of the virus. We have to live within our circle of safety, respecting the rules. Today I have hospitalized 2 patients. They got sick after their first vaccination. They probably felt safe and got sick. If we do not pay attention to this, this virus will remain with us as a pandemic for a long time, and if we pay attention, we will cushion this epidemic completely.
As long as the virus continues to reproduce rapidly, it will continue to evolve by mutations. All mutations are against us, in favor of the virus. Our task is to prevent the virus from mutating by preventing transmission between individuals … As the virus reproduces, it mutates. For a mutation to occur, the virus must be able to reproduce. The more it reproduces, the more it mutates and changes the structure of the virus.
CAN MUTATIONS NOW BE SOCIAL IMMUNITY?
We will live with this virus for years. But we will eliminate the pandemic. Now we have Kovid-19 disease, it is established in the history of mankind. We will see it every year and try to cure it. We are vaccinating and taking precautions to eliminate the pandemic. So you can watch with small epidemics like colds and flu … when exactly we can win. When we find an effective drug … We shouldn’t be too trapped in an environment of pseudo-trust as summer will come and we’ll relax after spring. Even if you sit outside, if you can’t keep your social distance and you don’t have a mask, the virus will come and find you. “
