Confusing SSI article

The Social Security Institution (SGK) has defined the roadmap for the actions to be taken in relation to occupational disease and work disability of health workers who lost their lives due to Covid-19.

SSI sent a letter to the Ministry of Health to expedite the process. The SSI article was publicly interpreted as a circular on “occupational diseases” for healthcare workers.

Arguing that the article consists of an orientation letter explaining the procedure for submitting the documents of employees suffering from illness to SSI. Ergün Demir and Dr. Güray Kılıç called for “Covid-19 disease to be immediately defined as an occupational disease.” Dr. Kılıç and Demir said: “The authority to decide whether a disease is an occupational disease and whether the employee can benefit from the occupational disease or work disability provisions belongs to SSI. Therefore, with this letter from the ministry, it is not correct to say that health workers will directly benefit from the provisions on occupational diseases / occupational disability ”.
