The tension that began with the attack on the Azerbaijani territories from Nagorno-Karabakh, which was occupied by Armenia, was replaced by a ceasefire on October 10 at the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, the first ceasefire was broken by the Armenian attacks.
Although the second ceasefire agreement was signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the initiatives of Russia, Armenia continued the attacks again. Trying to alleviate the growing tension in the South Caucasus, Russia continues in contact with both countries.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenia’s then Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to discuss the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
After Putin called the leaders of the two countries, it was reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov and Armenian Foreign Minister Zorab Mnatsakanyan.
The statement made by the Ministry said: “During the meetings, urgent issues related to the implementation of the previously agreed ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and the creation of conditions for sustainable solutions were discussed.”
ALİYEV: THE ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT HAS LOST MIND
Speaking to the nation yesterday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made the following statements:
* Now they are trying to get the world to recognize the so-called criminal organization. They lost their minds. They don’t understand that no one will.
* They do not understand that not all countries that do this can be considered friendly countries of Azerbaijan. It is not just a friendly country, we will cut all our ties with this country.
* Today they are trying to reshape the status quo. I said there is no status quo. We destroyed the status quo and we got it right. We have been waiting almost 30 years.
PASHINYAN: NO LONGER ACCEPTED
In making a statement on the conflicts, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that there was no diplomatic solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem at this stage. Pashinyan used the expression: “Anything that can be accepted as diplomatic by the Armenian side … is no longer acceptable to Azerbaijan.” (İHA)
