CHP Group Vice President Özgür Özel made a statement regarding the dismissal of Central Bank President Murat Uysal and the appointment of former Finance Minister Naci Ağbal.
In a statement he made on private social networks, he stated that the problem was not changing the head of the Central Bank and that the problem was actually destroying the autonomy of the institution.
Özel said: “The problem is not who is the head of the Central Bank, but the de facto destruction of the autonomy of the institution after the constitutional amendment that the regime meant. “Change the president of the Central Bank every day if you want, and with this mind, you cannot guarantee price stability or financial stability.”
“THE LOWEST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE REPUBLIC”
The vice president of the CHP Group, Özgür Özel Sözcü, declared that Murat Uysal was the president who served during the shortest period in the history of the Republic and affirmed that the independence of the Central Bank disappeared during the rule of the AKP.
In his statement to the Special Spokesperson for the CHP, he made the following statements:
* Excluding the coup periods and the only exception that he resigned by himself, the president of the Central Bank, Murat Uysal, was the shortest in the history of the Republic.
* On the other hand, Murat Çetinkaya was fired because he did not listen to Erdogan’s words, and Uysal, who was satisfied, gave the impression that he was acting in harmony with the executive body and the economic administration with the harsh interest rate cuts .
“ERDOĞAN WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE OFFICE FOR DOING WHAT HE SAID”
* We are facing a Central Bank president who was fired for doing what Erdogan said to do. Because we live in a period when Erdogan’s instructions, demands and predictions for the economy are not enough to fix the economy.
* Central Banks must be independent for the performance of their assigned functions. However, this independence was completely destroyed by the AKP government.
* It is obvious that the problem is not in the name of the president, but with the constitutional amendment that refers to the regime, Tayyip Erdoğan’s vision of the bank and the economy.
“THE PROBLEM IS NOT WHO THE PRESIDENT IS”
* It is clear that a Central Bank that receives instructions from a political authority that has lost its independence cannot fulfill the duties assigned to it.
* The problem is not that the heads of the Central Bank, but that the governors of the central banks depend on power and are administered, directed, ordered and removed, not to mention independence.
