While the Minister of National Education, Ziya Selçuk, does not require school attendance, he often gave the message that the exams will be conducted face-to-face at the school in accordance with regulations. The examination period in schools has arrived. However, no statement has yet been made on how the first exams, which began in mid-November, will be conducted this year. In some private schools, the exam schedule was announced and some even started taking exams. This week, some schools sent a letter to their parents, saying: “In accordance with the message from the District Directorate of National Education, it was ordered that they put the schedules of the written exams on hold. For this reason, the exams have been suspended since October 23. Until a new instruction on the exams is received, the classes will continue in the corresponding classes in person and online in the other classes ”.
After this explanation, I did research. I came across different scenarios with the information I got about the school exams that will be face-to-face due to the pandemic.
The first scenario is as follows: The ministry will follow a flexible schedule, especially in elementary and middle schools, in grading applied courses such as music, physical education, and painting. In these classes, grades will most likely be awarded through homework, not through face-to-face tests. The second scenario is as follows: In academic courses such as math, science, Turkish and foreign languages, there will be a face-to-face written exam. As always, it is essential to have at least two exams in these courses.
One of the scenarios that are discussed in the corridors of the Ministry is that one of the two exams of these academic courses is carried out in person at the school. Qualify the second exam as a performance or project. The goal here is to provide comfort to disadvantaged groups.
