The expert report on the burning of the historic Vaniköy Mosque in Istanbul has been announced.
The report prepared within the scope of the investigation included the determination that the fire came from the old electrical installation.
In the report, which said there was no intent in the fire, the foundation’s management, which did not inspect the old electrical system, was found to be defective because it did not show enough attention to take the necessary measures.
The Vaniköy Mosque was severely damaged by the fire that broke out on November 15 and was rendered unusable.
IT TAKES PLACE AMONG PEOPLES
Located between the mansions on Vaniköy Street in Üsküdar Kandilli, the mosque was built by Vani Mehmet Efendi in 1665.
The mosque, which was added to the Sultan’s court during the reign of Sultan Mahmut I, has a single minaret and a balcony. The mosque has a rectangular plan, with masonry and flattened walls.
