The Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Muhittin Böcek was treated at the private hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 on August 17, after his visit to Alanya. On September 7, Mayor Böcek was admitted to intensive care when his health deteriorated. Following the coronavirus treatment, President Böcek was given a tracheostomy to help him breathe better, due to asthma and a ruptured lung. Mayor Böcek was hooked up to a respirator and was transferred to AU Hospital on September 25, and on November 9 he was taken to the normal room from the intensive care unit where he remained for 64 days. Mayor Böcek was discharged on the afternoon of December 3 at the end of 108 days. Mayor Böcek, who announced that he would be returning home with his social media account, said: “After months of separation, I am happy to return home and send my regards and love to all my fellow citizens. I love you all.”
The AU Hospital health team, which is very interested in the health status of President Muhitten Böcek, told Demirören News Agency (DHA) about the difficult process of the happy ending.
‘WE CAN SAY WE HAVE BEEN MOBILE’
After the resignation of President Muhittin Böcek, the head of the medical team, who met for the first time with a full team, was the Vice Chancellor of the UA, Prof. Dr. Murat Turhan said: “Before coming to us, I was in treatment in another health center. His condition worsened there. Our team went by his side from time to time, but we could not fully control the situation. We transferred our president, who was in a critical situation, to our hospital with the intervention from our Minister of Health and the instruction of our rector. We received information about our president 3 times a day. We tried to solve all his problems instantly. He was under the constant control of a team. We met every day and we followed him very closely reflecting even the smallest parameter change in the treatment process. It is a very difficult and problematic process. LIVES WAS VERY WORTHY

For this we have to take it to the laboratory for a respiratory test. We found this early now. But I can say that it’s getting better every day. As you know, the lung is an organ that we can measure with its need for oxygen. The need for oxygen has decreased every day. Now our president is in a position to drive long hours without oxygen. Therefore, we see that this process improves every day. We believe that this medical need will disappear in the next few days. There is also the physiotherapy and rehabilitation department. There is a serious problem in muscle functions caused by the long hospitalization. We are treating to plan both pulmonary and physical therapy together. “
THERE WERE DEADLY INFECTIONS
Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology. Dr. Ata Nevzat Yalçın said that the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, Muhittin Böcek, was also exposed to various hospital infections after being hospitalized due to a coronavirus infection. Prof. Dr. Yalçın said: “In this process, we have worked to treat these infections. They were very serious infections with highly resistant and highly lethal bacteria.
