The incident arose in July 2019 when the AKA victim told her family that she did not want to meet her grandfather. AA, who has been an architect in Osmaniye for many years, reportedly came to Adana from time to time to spend time with his married son OA (35) and daughter-in-law GA (35) or at the home of her divorced husband, then grandson AKA 4 years. After a while, the OA and GA couple, who watched their children shut up and kept quiet, became suspicious of the situation when AKA said they did not want to be alone with their grandfather. When his family asked the boy why, he received answers that his grandfather sexually abused him. Shocked by the response, the family complained about AA.

Following the family’s complaint, AA was arrested on March 8. AA, who was taken to court after his actions at the police station, was sent to court by the prosecutor demanding his arrest. AA, who appeared before the judge, was released on condition of judicial control pending trial. Although the hearings in which the suspect will be tried were postponed due to the pandemic process, the last hearing was postponed to November 25 in the 8th Superior Criminal Court.

In the statement taken at AKA’s Child Monitoring Center during the testing process, it was learned that he said, “I play with my friends but I don’t play with my grandfather. He is a scammer. He was doing the same thing every time I went, saying ‘let’s play’.
On the other hand, grandfather AA, who was tried for alleged sexual abuse of his grandson, denied the allegations in his court testimony, saying: “I cannot bear to touch my grandson. My grandson is young.”

Lawyer Ayça Kara Sığırcı, Adana legal coordinator of the Association for the Fight Against Child Abuse, Saadet Teachers Child Abuse Association (UCİM), one of the victims’ lawyers, stated that the suspect had abused her grandson and still walks freely.
Sığırcı stated that the child’s statement should be taken as the basis in such cases and that the crime was determined by expert reports, saying: “We, as UCİM, are with our child and the family. We will do everything we can so that this child feel safe throughout his life. First of all, we hope that the person who committed this crime will be arrested and sent to prison directly. “The child in question is 4-5 years old. A puppy abused by his grandfather. We want this person to receive the punishment he deserves. “
